(Tom Harray being presented with his Life Membership Award from Ian Spraggon, Club President)
Tom Harray joined the Tauranga Bowling Club in 1999.
In 2000 he was elected to the Greens Committee, which started 16 consecutive years serving on the club’s various committees, with the majority of those years being spent on more than one committee at a time.
Tom served on the Greens Committee for a total of 11 years, with 7 of them as Greens Superintendent or Convenor. He was on the Grounds Committee for 6 years (2 of them as Grounds Convenor) and spent 8 consecutive years on the Executive Committee. That’s a total of 25 committee positions he has held in his 16 years as a member of this club.
Tom has spent countless hours working on the greens, grounds and buildings over those years.
It is a rare day that he has not been at the club working – even to this day, despite the fact that his health and physical limitations are causing him problems.
He has been a hard-working, well-liked and respected member of the club since he first joined, and it was carried unanimously that Tom Harray be granted Life Membership of Tauranga Bowling Club.
